You will be required to send through a reference image of your pet by September 20th for this class. The sketches are done by hand which takes time, so they can’t be sent through last minute.

Guidelines for Reference Photos

To help your child enjoy the class and feel confident about their painting, please follow these guidelines when choosing a photo:

• One pet only — painting more than one animal can be overwhelming for kids.

• Consider your child’s abilities — we want the experience to be fun, not daunting.

• Make it simple — some features are harder to paint, such as:

• Multicoloured fur in large areas (e.g., brindle dogs, tabby cats) — for these, please send a headshot rather than a full body photo.

• Detailed feather patterns.

• Very curly fur (e.g., Cavoodles) — again, a close-up portrait works best.

• One reference photo only — I can’t merge different images for this class. You may send a few options if you’d like help choosing, but we can’t mix elements from different photos (e.g., ears from one image and eyes from another).

Choosing a clear, simple image will set your child up for success and ensure they have a wonderful time painting.

This is a guided 3hr kids class for children between 8-16 years old. If your children fall outside this age bracket feel free to enquire to find out if this class is right for you. Parents are very welcome to stay throughout the class and are generally encouraged but not necessary.

We will be using acrylic paints on a 40cm x 50cm canvas in this class. Your children keep their creations. The canvases are pre-sketched by me to help build confidence and help ensure an attractive finished piece.
