My Story

How it all started

Tia Alysse is a full-time artist living in the Macedon Ranges with a gallery in Malmsbury. Sketching in her free time, Tia is rarely without a pencil or paintbrush in hand. She has always had a strong passion for drawing and a love for animals, leading her to incorporate the two in her current work.

She studied at John Marsden’s arts-based secondary school, Alice Miller, aspiring to become a vet she also realised a future as an artist. She began studying veterinary science at university in 2019 working on her artwork in her free time. Tia has been selling her work commercially since late 2016, selling her work through commercial galleries and interior design stores and through her own studio.

Tia aims to make her work accessible to a wide audience, suited to modern and country decor. She chooses to explore a wide range of mediums to further develop her individual style. Her work aims to highlight the biodiversity at risk in an era of human-driven mass extinction her work aims to inspire reverence for the natural world and action to defend what we have left. Tia’s work draws upon research, and on-the-ground experience volunteering in local wildlife shelters.

ARTISTS STATEMENT

I am a visual artist and activist with a focus on the environment and how people engage with it. I am concerned about humankind’s impact on planet Earth. Through my art, I hope to instigate social change that benefits humanity and the environment. My wish is that my art will inspire hope despite the massive challenges we face.

I try to make art that gently facilitates thought, starts a conversation, and initiates change. Art can present new ideas in an engaging way and as the world is facing so many challenges right now.

Curriculum Vitae - CV

I am an artist, painter, sole trader. My art career began in my high school at Alice Miller’s annual art show, where all five pieces I had entered, sold. I then sought out placement in a local commercial gallery where I displayed work for over a year, followed by two solo exhibitions at another local gallery.

I enjoy personally meeting clients and getting feedback from them, so from 2019 onwards I sold art directly from my home studio. I sought out further retail stores that would display my work as a way of reaching new people and joined the DROMOS Open Studios program. I rented a gallery in 2020 for around 8 months but due to COVID-19 lockdowns it was impossible to maintain, so I have had to scale down, I now work out of my home studio again.

Recently I’ve displayed works in my local Macedon Ranges, and my partners neighbourhood of Hobsons Bay. By hosting one on one classes, asking to show work in cafes and being a featured artist at local music and arts festivals. However historically most of my sales come from my studio, where I have a chance to personally showcase work and connect with my clients
