Custom Pet & Animal Portrait Commissions
Ready to commission a painting of your pet? I offer two kinds of pet portrait: pencil on paper, and acrylic paint on canvas.
Acrylic portraits are hand-painted on stretched canvas, ready to hang the moment your painting arrives. Pencil portraits are drawn on 300gsm+ cotton paper in high-quality coloured pencil, and come with a simple frame included, so they’re ready to hang too. Travelling interstate or overseas and don’t want it framed for safe transit? Just let me know when you book in.
For every pet portrait, I paint exactly what I see from the photo of your pet. If you need something left out (like a collar or pet harness) please let me know in advance.

PHOTOS OF YOUR PET
I paint directly from the photo that you choose of your pet for the painting. It is super important to choose a photo that captures your pet how you see/remember them. I don't know your pet personally, so a good quality photo helps tremendously when painting your pet. The higher quality the photo is, the more realistic your painting will turn out.
What do I look for when receiving the photos?
1.) CLEAR: sharp, in-focus photos paint best. Blurry shots are almost impossible to work from.
2.) NATURAL LIGHT: outdoor photos are ideal. Skip filters and flash; they flatten your pet’s true colouring.
3.) CLOSE-UP: chest-up or full body, with plenty of detail in the eyes and nose. That’s what brings a portrait to life.
BACKGROUND COLOuRS
I paint a solid background color behind the portrait of your pet(s). I can paint any color that you would like! Not sure what color would look best? I can always recommend a colour!
Sending a photo of the color you would like is a great way for me to match it.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
I require a 50% deposit at the time of placing your order before work begins. The remainder is due once the piece is complete and you have seen a photo and signed off on it. Bank transfer is the easiest way to pay. If you require another way please get in touch.
wait times
Pieces take around 6 weeks to complete. You will be notified when you book with me how long I expect the piece to take. If you require an earlier turn around, please let me know, rush costs may be added depending on the timing.
Once your painting is complete, I will send you a picture to make sure everything is how you pictured it to be!
SHIPPING
Pieces can be collected from Malmsbury or Newport, Victoria. If you’re unable to collect the artwork yourself, postage is available by request. Small works generally cost around $25 to post.
